Buying a house with land near Valencia: what surprised us
We bought a house with land outside Valencia two years ago, mainly so I could finally grow something bigger than a balcony tomato. A few things I did not know before, in case somebody here is thinking about the same:
Land with water rights and land without are two different markets at the same price. Ask before you fall in love with the view.
- An old finca will need a well or a connection, and both take longer than the sellers suggest.
- Prices swing enormously between villages twenty minutes apart. I used https://spain-real.estate/ to compare by area before we went anywhere, which saved us from anchoring on the first town we liked.
- Nobody tells you how much of the first year goes to fixing fences.
Two seasons in, we have more courgettes than friends. Worth it.
